CURRICULUM:

Indonesia school level is quite the same in the Philippines, which are elementary (SD), Junior High School (SMP), and Senior High School (SMA). But in Al-amjad Islamic school it is only from elementary to Junior High School and according to the headmaster they are proposing to have  a Senior High School at Al-amjad Islamic School Medan. The Junior High School  have 6 classes for the grade 7, 6 classes for grade 8, and 7 classes for the grade 9.They study from Monday to Friday and start the class from 8 a.m in the morning and end at 4:30 in the afternoon.

C.  LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students are able to:

  1. define respiratory sytem,

  2. identify the parts of respiratory system, and

  3. list down the ways on how to care the respiratory system

I. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: The Human Respiratory System

B. Key Concepts:

  • Human Respiratory System is the system, consisting of tubes and is responsible for the exchange of gases. Respiratory system provides the energy needed by cells of the body to function according to their designated tasks.

  • The parts of the Human Respiratory System are nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and diaphragm.

  • Here are the ways on how to take care the Respiratory System:

    • Exercise regularly

    • Avoid polluted air

    • Avoid tobacco smoke

    • Seek medical help for respiratory infections

    • Sit, stand and walk with correct posture.

C. Science Process Skills

  • Observing

  • Classifying

  • Inferring

  • communicating

  • Interpreting data and conclusion

D. Value focus

  • Commitment to work

  • Seek knowledge

  • Responsibility

  • Determination

  • Curiosity

  • Discipline

E. Teaching Aids/Materials

  • Powerpoint presentation

  • Laptop

Parts of the lesson

I. Elicit

(Prayer): Good morning class, please all stand and we will start our class with a prayer. So, may I request one representative to lead the prayer.

(Energizer):Please remain standing and we will be having our ice breaker or the energizer.n Okey are you now ready?

Okey let us start the energizer.

(Review): Okey for a review of what we had discussed last week. I have here questions on the board, those who can answer these questions will have a prize from me. Raise your hands if you know the answers. Okey?

Questions:

  1. What is the unit of measurement for Force?

  2. What is the unit of measurement for Area?

  3. What is the formula of Pressure in Solid?

  4. What is the formula of Pressure in Liquid?

Very good! Since you remember our lesson last week. Everyone please do the fireworks clap

II. Engage

(Motivation): Class I have here 2 envelopes so may I request two representatives to open what is inside the envelopes.

Okey, what is inside on the first envelope?

Correct!

So would you please describe this picture? What it is all about?

Very good!

How about the second envelope, what is inside on it?

Correct!

So would you please describe also the second picture?

Very good!

So the first picture that you have opened from the envelope is man covering his nose because of the smoke of the factory at his back. He is covering his nose in order for him to free from sickness or to avoid ailment. The second picture is a sign of no smoking sign which you can see this on the other public and private places. This is a sign that we need to avoid smoking for our own good.

(Presentation): Okey now, I have here word search on the board. Above the word search are the words you need to find. Encircle the words that you have find using these color pen.

Class, our lesson for today is all about the human respiratory system. So everybody fasten your seatbelts as we go on and explore more about the human respiratory system. So sit back and relax as teacher Lysly discuss to you the human respiratory system later on.

But before that everybody let us read our objectives of our today’s lesson.

III. Explore

(Groupings of Students): Class, for your activity please stay the in the same groupings last week. Okey are you now in your group?

Now, I will distribute your activity. Please read carefully the paragraph and your answers in crosswords puzzle will be on the paragraph and base on the words below it. I will give you 10 minutes to do this.

(Group Activity):You may now start your activity.

Time is up, everybody let us now answers your activity.

Very good you did well in your activity. Everybody please do the very good clap.

Now we will have a further discussion about human respiratory system.

IV. Explain

(Discussion): Class, listen to my discussion as we go over more about Human Respiratory Sytem.

Human Respiratory System is the system, consisting of tubes and is responsible for the exchange of gases. Respiratory system provides the energy needed by cells of the body to function according to their designated tasks.

The parts of the Human Respiratory System are nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and diaphragm.

Nose is the only externally visible part of the respiratory system. Air enters the nose through the external nares (nostrils).

Pharynx (throat) is a muscular passage from nasal cavity to larynx. The 3 regions of the pharynx are Nasopharynx, Oropharynx, and Laryngopharynx. The oropharynx and laryngopharynx are common passageways for air and food.  It is a common passageway for air and food and it provides a reasoning chamber for speech sounds.

Larynx it is an enlargement in the airway superior to the trachea and inferior to the pharynx. It helps keep particles from entering the trachea and also houses the vocal cords.

Trachea is the inner wall of Connects larynx with bronchi. It lined with ciliated mucosa that beat continuously in the opposite direction of incoming air. And expel mucus loaded with dust and other debris away from lungs.

Lungs are the main and primary organ of the respiratory system. The two organs that extract oxygen from inhaled air and expel carbon dioxide in exhaled air. The bronchus and large blood vessels enter each lung.

Bronchi are the two main air passages into the lungs. They are composed of right primary bronchus and left primary bronchus.

Bronchioles are the smallest branches of the bronchi. All but the smallest branches have reinforcing cartilage.

Diaphragm is a large flat muscle that separates the lungs from the stomach area and that is used in breathing.

Here are the ways on how to take care the Respiratory System:

  • Exercise regularly

  • Avoid polluted air

  • Avoid tobacco smoke

  • Seek medical help for respiratory infections

  • Sit, stand and walk with correct posture.
